Back Door Residency

Back Door Artist Residency is organized by Paper Chair and is located at Greater Denton Arts Council. The residency provides emerging artists in North Texas with time and space to create their work.

Applications will open in late 2026, and four artists will each complete a three month residency in 2027. Paper Chair’s board will help establish the program as the first year’s residents in 2026.

Back Door Residency is made possible by generous support from Greater Denton Arts Council.

Open Studios

Current residents Anna Galluzzi and Katie Rose Crosswhite invite you to visit them at their studio at Greater Denton Arts Council. This is a unique opportunity to talk with the artists about their current work and learn about their process.

Anna Galluzzi

Anna Galluzzi is a DFW based interdisciplinary artist and educator. While originally from the Texas Hill Country, Galluzzi relocated to DFW to receive their BA from University of Texas at Dallas and MFA from Texas Woman’s University. They currently teach art at Tarrant County College and Texas State Technical College. Their work has been exhibited across the state of Texas at Cain Gallery at Del Mar College, The Boedecker, and Zona 7 Gallery, among others.

Utilizing mixed media, their work advocates for cultivating joy and coping with the present. They are heavily inspired by the Pattern & Decoration movement, suburban flora and fauna, and childhood whimsy.

Katie Rose Crosswhite

Katie Rose Crosswhite is an idea fountain based in Denton, TX. She is happiest when cheering for others, demonstrated by her active service on three of Denton’s art non-profit boards: Thin Line, Rock Lottery, and Paper Chair Studios. Katie Rose’s love for cultivating vibrant placemaking and events is rooted in her time as Food Program Coordinator at Etsy and led her to cofound Nice Work, a culture and events company in NYC. She is currently the Director of Creative Services at Pinnacle Live where she leads a team on projects such as filming with Santa for Marriott NYC and building out a color analysis pop-up complete with a 15 x 22 ft handmade tulle wall.
